The majority of Glow Serum recipes you find on the internet include Jojoba Oil. Jojoba is fine, but there are so many other wonderful options available to you. We’re stepping out of the box with this recipe so you can try something new!
This is just one of the recipes included in our "Fresh Face Beauty" project. You can view the complete essential oil DIY project by clicking on the link above and you will find the individual recipes at the bottom of this post.
Now, are you ready to get crafty? Let's do this!
First, let's talk about the carrier oils we are using, and why.
Meadowfoam Oil locks in moisture and allows the serum to penetrate deep into the skin. The oil's composition is very similar to that of sebum (your skin oils) and keeps your face from getting excessively oily or overly dry. It is also high in antioxidants that give it anti-aging properties and the ability to fight fine lines, wrinkles, and dryness.
Argan Oil “enhances the appearance and texture of skin and hair with its rich fatty acid and antioxidant content, easily hydrating, conditioning, and softening both without leaving a greasy residue. When applied to the skin, Argan Oil leaves it looking firmer, smoother, and softer by enhancing elasticity and reducing the appearance of wrinkles. On acne-prone skin, Argan Oil soothes inflammation and irritation while reducing the appearance of scarring and balancing skin’s natural moisture and oil production. Argan Carrier Oil is effective for diminishing blemishes such as stretch marks, as it promotes the growth of new skin while boosting its suppleness.” Source
Rosehip Oil- Promotes collagen production, hydrates and plumps skin, helps to even skin tone and fade brown spots, supports scar healing (including stretch marks), and soothes eczema and psoriasis. Rosehip Oil is so gentle it is considered appropriate for all skin types, even acne prone and very sensitive skin. It is incredibly rich in essential fatty acids. Over 70% of the oil is comprised of linoleic and linolenic acid, which improve hydration and skin elasticity. It also contains a significant amount of vitamin C, which is essential for collagen synthesis.
Cool, right?! This recipe makes one 10ml bottle of Glow Serum.
• Add the essential oils to your dropper bottle.
• Fill the bottle 1/3 with Meadowfoam, Argan, and Rosehip Oil.
• Swirl to combine.
• Apply at bedtime after cleansing your face.
ADD YOUR OWN TWIST!
Like the carrier oils used, you can customize the essential oils used in this recipe too! There are so many amazing oils to choose from and they all have unique properties. Just be sure to use only 6 drops of essential oil per 10ml of serum. (That is a 3% dilution.) I typically only create 2% dilution recipes, which is the recommended safe dilution for everyday use, but I wanted this recipe to have a little extra umph.
